To

The Honourable Prime Minister of India,

New Delhi

Most Respected Modi ji,

Sub : Request to withdraw the order passed by Joint Secretary of

Ministry of Mines which make 50000 employees jobless

Ref : Ministry of Mines Order No. 1/1/2019/M.VI dated

01.03.2019.

Respected Modi ji, All over India, total 328 Major mineral mining leases are operating.  Out of 328 mining leases, total 80 mining leases are for beach minerals. Out of 80, total 72 private beach mineral mining leases  are available. Out of the 72 private beach mineral mining leases more than 60 leases are in Tamilnadu State which provide 50,000 people direct employment in terms of mining and mineral processing industries.

By using this beach minerals as raw material, lot of other industries in Titanium Pigments, Welding electrode, paint, sand blasting and water-jet cutting, refractory and ceramic industries also provide employment for more than one lakh people.

Without consulting with the mining lessees, by convening a simple meeting with subordinate officials including state government officials, Ministry of Mines passed the Order No. 1/1/2019/M.VI dated 01.03.2019 terminating all the private mining leases all over India. So Tamilnadu, Maharastra and Andhra Pradesh are affected Very much. Particularly Tamilnadu is affected in a huge way. Myself also one of the beach mineral employee who loose my job. Like me, more than 50,000 people loose their job because of the Joint Secretary of Mines Single order.

When we approached, the Department simply gave a reply that, to protect monazite such order is passed. In fact, all the sea ports and airports are equipped with gadgets to find out radioactive materials. You can find out the fact from Parliament reply to question No. 896 answered on 20.12.2017.  Moreover monazite is in negative list, so no one can export monazite.

So our humble request to the Honourable Prime Minister is, kindly intervene in this issue and issue suitable direction to withdraw the order passed by Ministry of Mines and save 50,000 people employment in Tamilnadu.

I also request you that, the Ministry of Mines may kindly be advised to convene a meeting once in a year comprising of Mines officials, Indian Bureau of Mines officials, Atomic Energy Department officials and Beach Mineral Producers Association representative and Southern Mines and Minerals workers association representatives and representative of State Government of Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh, Maharastra the states having private beach mineral mining leases.

This will go in a big way in the development of beach mineral industry as, India has 1/3rd of the total world reserve. Meantime, our request is to give compensation to the people who lose employment because of the Joint Secretary, Mines Order.

Thanking you

Yours truly,
